Description
Join us for an interactive session designed to empower you to implement the new Ontario Language curriculum confidently and effectively. During this session, we will explore the advantages of thematic learning cycles over traditional units. Thematic cycles are a shift from traditional content-driven units of study (short story, poetry, novel study units). Instead, thematic cycles introduce numerous skills and concepts integrating all strands of the Language curriculum, which will be continually consolidated and built upon over each cycle. Thematic cycles focus on the exploration of big ideas and questions, and learning is brought to life with a variety of multimodal, culturally responsive and relevant texts that connect to the overarching theme. Thematic planning offers numerous benefits, including providing students with multiple opportunities to master skills while accommodating diverse learning needs through tailored instruction and universal design. We will focus on practical strategies to enhance student engagement and understanding. Participants will gain the tools and resources necessary to navigate the new curriculum confidently, while enhancing teaching and learning that propels student achievement to new heights!
