Description
This interactive workshop explores how integrating drama, movement, music, and poetry can enhance students’ literacy skills while supporting social-emotional development. Grounded in research on multimodal learning, the session highlights how embodied, creative approaches to poetry help students build vocabulary, interpret themes, and consider multiple perspectives through active expression and collaboration. Participants will engage in dynamic exercises—including improvisation, role play, and movement—to explore poetic structure, language, and meaning, while fostering empathy and emotional literacy. Educators will receive a step-by-step guide with Ontario Curriculum links, a sample lesson plan, adaptable classroom activities, and assessment tools. Whether new to arts integration or looking to deepen their practice, attendees will leave with practical, inclusive strategies to create meaningful, arts-rich literacy experiences.
