Inoculating Minds Against Misinformation… By Creating It!

Presented by Abhi Ahluwalia

Date, Time, and Room

Thursday, February 19, 20269:00 AM – 10:15 AMBirchwood (max. 220)

Description

Fighting misinformation can feel like a never-ending battle. Instead of trying to debunk every false claim, prebunk! By exposing minds to weakened forms of misinformation and providing techniques to resist persuasion, we can build immunity against misleading content in the real world. This presentation focuses on inoculation activities in which students learn how misinformation misleads by creating their own humorous examples. (Examples include conspiracy theories, health pseudoscience, and “fake news.”) Participants will also learn how to use inoculation theory to design their own effective lessons.

Presented in EnglishIntermediate, SeniorMisinformation
