Description

Drama can be a powerful tool for social change. It allows students to call attention to injustice and to envision a scene in which injustice is overcome. With drama, students can change the very language associated with the injustice. This workshop will explore hands-on, creative and unique learning experiences that will introduce students to the idea of social justice, where they will learn about how dramatic performance can be used as an expression of social change or social awareness. Participants will learn ways to encourage young people to express their attitude and emotional responses to issues that affect our world, using a variety of texts that will help students make personal connections to stories, plays and poetry.
