Coleen Birkett (she/her/hers)
Coleen Birkett is an educator and published author who has taught in Central America, Toronto, and Bermuda. Coleen has also worked as an Instructional Coach for Literacy and Numeracy. She has developed and presented workshops for educators in West Africa and Bermuda. Coleen was a recipient of the 2009 Award for Excellence in Teaching. She was one of the co-authors of the textbook Black History: Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas. Her most recent publication is Building Together, written for the Sankofa Reading Collection. Coleen co-developed and co-presented See Us, Learn Us, a nation-wide webinar for educators. She was a CRRP Reviewer for Nelson Education’s Grade 9 Math textbook and has written for their digital learning ecosystem. Coleen cofounded Birkett Educational Consultants; a company that supports educators and students.
