Jennifer Jongsma (she/her/hers)

Jennifer is an elementary educator with over 15 years of early years classroom experience. She specializes in play-based, inquiry-driven learning and outdoor education and using it as a vehicle to support all learners. Jennifer is passionate about bridging the gap between Kindergarten and the primary grades, by bringing purposeful play and open-ended exploration into older classrooms as a way to spark authentic student voice and a lifelong love for learning. In our presentation, we will be referencing:

  • Story Workshop New Possibilities for Young Writers by Susan Harris MacKay
  • Makerspaces by Michelle Kay Compton and Robin Chappele Thompson in order to demonstrate how authentic play and literacy beautifully intersect.
