Roy Fernandes is the Superintendent of Indigenous Education and Equity with the Toronto Catholic District School Board. He is a firm believer in experiential education, Culturally Relevant, Responsive, Pedagogy, Windows, Mirrors and Sliding Doors, and Sleep! All but the last one will be covered in the presentation. All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely, Reading the Rainbow, Princess Pru and the Ogre on the Hill are a few of the books that will be referenced in the presentation.
