Description
With an explicit focus on equity, anti-oppression, anti-racist, and anti- colonial pedagogy, this workshop is for educators who are critically reflective of their pedagogical practices.
Grounded in African-centered philosophies and principles, this interactive workshop will feature dynamic, thoughtful, and intentional cross curricular instructional strategies that support student academic achievement and well-being. This session will demonstrate how Dr. Gholdy Muhammad’s Culturally and Historically Responsive Education Framework and The 5 Pursuits of identity, skills, intellect, criticality and joy can be used as an effective pedagogical tool for instruction and assessment. Cultivating an African-centered classroom provides benefits to all students, irrespective of ethnicity, race, language, gender, or learning abilities. This workshop will be led by the Peel District School Board’s African, Black, Afro-Caribbean Student Success team.
If you have a vision to inspire expressions of joy and excellence throughout your school community, this workshop is for you!
