Description

Join us as we explore classroom activities that engage students in thinking, exploring, and making sense of the world using an integrated literacy and science approach. Learn how to connect and apply literacy strategies using our 5 thinking routines to engage students in reading, writing, thinking, and talking about science and STEM concepts and issues. Participants will take away a series of “failsafe literacy strategies” that have been purposefully paired with engaging science activities to enhance instructional effectiveness and empower our junior/intermediate students to develop important thinking routines and vocabulary. Together the “failsafe literacy strategies” and science activities help answer the question, “How do I meaningfully integrate literacy and science instruction?”
